Note, as work takes place on various digital transmitters (to prepare for the DSO) you may experience problems, e.g. with certain MUXES disappearing. First try rescanning your TV / set top box (do it manually if possible), but if this fails to work check on transmitter work or call the reception advice phone numbers. Switchover at Totley occurred between the 10 and the 24 of Aug 2011.
Totley Rise television transmitter started broadcasting in 1980 and is a relatively low power relay (or repeater) off Emley Moor (via Crosspool) which is "aimed" into the River Sheaf / Old Hay Brook valley. It is necessary because some of this area is shielded from Emley, Crosspool and Belmont by the hills (see ATV topography map).
The TX is a vertically polarised and is a B group with a digital power output 16W.
Note that only the three basic PSB MUXES are transmitted from Totley, not all six of them.
However, what is transmitted is all within Totley`s original B group.

Totley mast can be difficult to see as it is hidden behind the trees of Poynton Wood, but it is actually situated just off Poynton Wood Glade. It looks just like a telegraph pole and is often mistaken for one !

The bottom (vertically polarised) one receives the signal from Sheffield / Crosspool, which in turn gets its signal from Emley Moor, thus it is a
repeater off a repeater !
The top array (also vertically polarised) retransmit into the valley.
Note the broadcast authorities use of Log Periodics, an aerial we recommend to use wherever possible.
